In compliance with the request contained in your letter No 21470/99 of the 25th August, I have the honour to state for the information of Mr Secretary Chamberlain that the
cost of a Steam Pinnace of the kind specified by the Governor
of Hong Kong will amount to £650 delivered f.o.b. London.
We should receive an early reply if it is decided
to order the Pinnace, as in consequence of the upward tendency
of prices firms will not at present keep their offers open
long.
